Gary Bunch

Major General, US Army (Retired)

Major General H. Gary Bunch retired from the U.S. Army Materiel Command as the Assistant Deputy Commanding General on June 27, 2012. He graduated from Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology. He also holds a master’s degree in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College. He was commissioned as a Regular Army second lieutenant in December 1976 and served over 35 years as an active and reserve officer. He commanded at every level from Platoon to Commanding General and was the Deputy Commanding General for the Army Sustainment Command, Rock Island, Illinois and the 1st Theater Sustainment Command, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

In his civilian life, Gary was a loan officer for Texas Mortgage Banking Corporation and Hinton Mortgage & Investment Co. in Dallas, and Capitol City Savings in Austin, Texas. After several deployments, he joined Tapestry Solutions in San Diego, California, a software development company, as their Senior Director for Logistics Programs. After additional combat deployments, he returned to Tapestry Solutions as their Senior Military Analyst and the Director for Business Development at Fort Lee, Virginia.

Gary’s commitment to community service is evidenced by his having served as a Director and Chairman of the Rockwall Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors, an officer in the Terry Fisher American Legion Post 117 in Rockwall, Texas, an officer in The Military Order of the World Wars, North Texas Chapter, and a past Chairman and Commissioner on the Rockwall Housing Authority Board.

His awards and decorations include the Army Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit (2OLC), Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4OLC), Army Commendation Medal (4OLC), the Combat Action Badge, the Distinguished Order of Saint Martin, the Ordnance Order of Samuel Sharpe, the General Brehon B. Somervell Medal of Excellence, and he is a member of the Quartermaster Corps Hall of Fame.

Gary has been married to the former Lauren Artesi for over thirty-eight years and they have two sons, Kyle (an Army Veteran) and Carl; and a daughter, Alicia (an Army Veteran).
